Have you ever wanted to jump in a time machine to take a break from the present? Sick of the hum drum of daily life and wish that you could live inside a romance novel for a bit? Well, Sophie Bengough wishes she could do both those things and feels that you might like to as well!
September, 1939. Elizabeth and John lock eyes for the first time at a Milk Bar on Bourke Street. She thinks he’s dreadful, he thinks she’s a dream. Fast forward in time and they’ve been seeing each other for 10 months and before he leaves he’s trying to pluck up the courage to propose to her with the wedding ring he keeps in his pocket.
‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ brings old songs such as ‘We’ll Meet Again’, ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ and ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’ back to vivid life, played and arranged by musical director Jack Hollander and sung by cabaret artist Sophie Bengough, they become the soundtrack of an Australian wartime romance. This one woman cabaret show runs for just under an hour and is the perfect night out for jazz music fans, WWII history buffs & anyone who loves to devour a good Nicholas Sparks novel.
‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ is an old fashioned story that will have you leave the theatre feeling like your Nanna has just given you a warm hug! It’ll give you a fondness for the past, a passion for the present and a hope for the future.
