Sydney rising stars The Preatures completely sold out their single tour and after the release of their second EP last Friday, this national tour is expected to do the same. Sonic fiends can also revel in the fact Tim Finn is in the country, Don McLean kicks off his national tour this week and Paul Kelly's film is screening in Canberra. Other highlights this week include Tosca's run at Sydney Opera House, Tim Minchin as the lead role in a Shakespeare re-write and the annual Queensland Music Awards.

Monday

Tuesday

- Queensland Music Awards 2013 celebrates some of the state's finest musical talent, with performances from The Jungle Giants, The Trouble with Templeton, Violent Soho, Seja, Thelma Plum, Harmony James, Pigeon, BlaqCarrie and Chukale!

- Following their acclaimed performance at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, STOMP is back and better than ever.  The production is currently stopped in Perth, before it takes over Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney through August and September.

- Due to sustained unrelenting demand for tickets to Pink’s Melbourne shows, a record- breaking 18th Rod Laver Arena date was been added to her Truth About Love Tour. Catch her at Rod Laver Arena until August 26.

Wednesday

- King Kong, the iconic love story of an enormous creature and his battle for survival in New York City is still showing at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre. Thursday

- Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey have joined forces in what is one of the most exciting country music ventures of the year, their collaborative album reached Gold status is five weeks and held Kanye West off the top spot on the ARIA Chart for two days. Catch the dynamic country traditionalists at Montreal Theatre in Tumut.

- TIM FINN is showing no signs of slowing. The founding member of iconic NZ band Split Enz and one time member of the chart topping Crowded House, Finn is set to perform Lizottes Dee Why this Thursday with a lauded back catalogue including Poor Boy, I Hope I Never, Weather With You, Fraction Too Much Friction and Persuasion.

Friday

- After parting ways with their bassist in early July, The Getaway Plan returned last month with a new bassist and manager and a full national tour in their sights. Witness the renewed fervour yourself at The Coffs Hotel.

- Don McLean kicks off his Australian tour this week. Fans of American Pie and other heartstring-tugging dishes should get in quick if they want tickets. McLean will perform Wrest Point Entertainment Centre in Hobart this Friday.
