Jamie Farkas, General Manager of VICE Music and Blink, the brains behind pulling off no budget festivals like New Zealand’s Camp A Low Hum and Square Wave (launching this year) will headline talks at this year's Face The Music event.

Face The Music is Melbourne’s music industry conference bringing together thousands of artists and music professionals to celebrate, pitch and discuss the city’s vibrant and growing talent, presented in conjunction with Melbourne Music Week.

Farkas and Blink will deliver keynote speeches on how to become a truly global artist and share the secrets of pulling off a successful world music tour with no budget. Blink's self-published guide, 'DIY Touring the World' has been described as, "the Art of War for scrappy, hard-working bands."

In a city that is infamous for its small gig scene, other industry speakers on the program - Small Rooms, Big Dreams featuring Tim Scott (Gasometer Hotel), Joel Morrison (Old Bar, Public Bar), Emily Ulman (Boney, The Toff), Samuel Wald (Artist Voice), Anastasia Casagrande (Reverence Hotel), Sean Simmons (Premier Artists) and Matt Leost (Artery Foundation) will provide vital insights into small gig success strategies.

For the first time in its 6 years of operation there is an opportunity for face-to-face feedback from label and radio representatives. Bands can pitch their music to The Sounding Board and find out what the likes of Simon Winkler from RRR, Chelsea Wilson from PBS, Stu Harvey from triple j, Maya Janeska from Shock Records and Dan Zilber from FBi Radio think about their sound.

The program also features performances by Sonny and the Sunsets, Darren Sylvester and Caroline Kennedy and other keynotes like Richard Moffat (Way Over There) and Nick O’Byrne (AIR) who take a hypothetical look into the future of the music industry with thier ‘2014 – The Year That Was’ delivery.

Held in the Arts Centre Melbourne on November 15 and 16, Face The Music is an exciting networking and workshop event for serious pursuers of music careers.

Tickets are available now from the offical website.
