From critically acclaimed touring shows, Sun Rising – the Songs That Made Memphis, and Mental As Everything, piano playing funny man, Damon Smith, brings you an all new musical adventure that spans the origins of the piano from it’s birth in 1709 through to the 20th century. From finger busting boogie-woogie to delicate sonatas, Damon will educate and entertain his audience with ripping yarns and thrilling stories pertaining to piano music and it’s players throughout the ages.
Documentary styled in its nature, Crazy Arms celebrates the piano by telling some amazing stories and hilarious anecdotes. From Mozart to Fats domino, Liberace to Jerry Lee Lewis and John Lennon’s simplistic plodding around in Imagine to Korsakov’s finger busting "Flight Of The Bumble Bee", Smith will run like a crazed buffoon between his upright and grand pianos while tearing sheet music in half, playing it upside down (and maybe sideways), while finding a quiet and serious moment to explain why a simple approach to writing on a piano is just as important and significant to composing a 1-hour concerto.
"Combining classical music with ragtime and boogie woogie, Crazy Arms is a fun filled, comedy-cabaret show that will knock your socks off in various directions."
