Come and celebrate pride and anti-establishment queers at our pride month group exhibition opening.
In the wake of marriage equality and the midst of a trans moral panic LGBTQIA artists have stopped to ask; what good does assimilation do us? While the world is looking for perfect models of gay aesthetics to sell their products – queer individuals who don’t conform to heteronormative norms find themselves as marginalised as ever. What happens to the messy queers? The angry queers? The queers who don’t want to be ‘tolerated’ or ‘accepted’ by the very social forces that position them forever as The Other?
We look to revel in the light of queer difference. To celebrate anti-authoritarian queerness that rebukes norms and draws you in to its deliciously ambiguity.
