She will talk about her research, and the deep insights into the how the women of the Ndzundza Ndebele tribe became the custodians of their unique cultural identity in the face of adverse conditions they endured for over 2000 years.
In conjunction with The Ndebele Women of South Africa Exhibition on view 18 October - 25 November 2023
Heinke explores how the garment is used as an object of creative expression by Ndzundza Ndebele women, and how historical events have shaped their cultural identity.
Uncover how Ndzundza Ndebele women use the garment as visual language to express their cultural identity in the contemporary landscape of South Africa.
